The Precor EFX 5.17i cv is an entry level elliptical trainer from Precor, but still it is not cheap. As we all know that Precor isn’t a brand leader for elliptical trainers. This exercise machine is heavy duty and includes the robustness, durability and versatility which are the trademark of all Precor models. However, the model misses the mark without any adjustable or movable armrest. Instead, it has a fixed ergonomically designed handlebar that can accommodate users of different height.
The EFX 5.17i cv has an adjustable inclination option that is a part of its 5.17i CrossRamp technology. The ramp can be adjusted from 12 to 25 degrees. This provides a way of exercising different parts of the lower body like calf muscles, hamstrings and quads.
Precor’s EFX 5.17i cv has 4 preset programs named weight loss, heart rate, gluteal and manual and 20 resistance levels. The LCD display is very sophisticated and includes keystroke sequencing and multiple feedback options with accompanying graphics. The display is very intuitive offering step by step controls.
The Precor EFX 5.17i cv has a big stride length which is 19 inches making it the ideal machine for people of different sizes. The machine does not have any heart rate measuring system but is compatible with optical chest-strap monitors separately available as ad ons. These monitors are meant for calculating the heart rate.
Though it misses many features and is highly priced, the machine provides a thorough cardiovascular workout and is very user friendly. It is one of the best elliptical trainers available in the market.
